PROMOTION
and Graduation
After eleven years of being part of this amazing fa-
mily, I can say I have no words to describe how great
this experience has been. It´s a great honor for me
to be standing here in this special day. As everyone
knows, today we are officially closing one cycle and
starting another one which will be even harder. But,
a cycle never ends without leaving a lesson for the
next one. Today, all of us carry values and experien-
ces that will help confront life and follow the right
path.
My friends, the main advice I have to all of you is to
be true to yourselves from now on. Never let anyone
come across your way and tell you to do things diffe-
rently from how you have planned them. I won´t say
it will be easy, because I know for sure that it won´t.
Life will present you a number of problems and cir-
cumstances that will help you define who you will
be in the future.
Also, do not forget to be grateful. Be grateful for litt-
le or long time you have spent at St Georges Colle-
ge, where your teachers are, where you friends are,
and where our families are too. Because in life, you
will meet some very negative people; some may lie,
some may steel, but this is because they have not
had the opportunities we’ve had in life. We have not
just made academic progress at school, we have
learned to good human beings, and we have lear-
ned the skills necessary to survive in life.
Today, we may be separating physically but remem-
ber that we´ve got each other. This is not a goodb-
ye; I am sure we will see each other after some time,
and most importantly, we will carry a piece of each
other into everything that we do next, because we
have been a family. I will personally remember you
all forever and I’m sure you will all do the same thing
with all of us.
To finish, I just want to share with you something
I heard once. “Twenty years from now, you will be
more disappointed by the things you didn´t do, than
by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines, sail
away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in
your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Make mistakes
and get up after them.”
I think this can characterize us as a group; as the
64th promotion of St Georges College. We are not
perfect but we keep on fighting for what we believe
in; we are determined; And we are not scared of ex-
ploring, discovering and dreaming.
