Electricity Museum Study visit by Grade 7
The history of electricity was de-
tailed with the use of videos and
informative talks. Students ac-
quired an insight into famous
scientists like Benjamin Franklin,
Alexander Volta and Michael Fa-
raday, and their contributions to
science.
Pupils also learned about the im-
portance and benefits of clean
energy sources compared to
other types of energy. They were
also taught how to save energy
with common electrical applian-
ces such as laptops, TVs, water
heaters, washing machines and
others. After the study visit, stu-
dents showed empathy towards
energy saving practices by tur-
ning off the classroom lights and
computers when not in use.
On Tuesday October 30th, 2014, students from Grade 7 attended the Museum of Electricity located
in Barranco. They were accompanied by the school’s science teachers who, along with the museum’s
tour guides, made the study visit a very productive experience.
The students were able to record a great deal of factual information during their tour, which resulted
in a report they produced later at school later. Overall, the visit helped to raise awareness about the
importance of energy saving procedures used at home and at industrial scales.
