Our first study visit was to “Chacra Granja
ecológica”; the students were very pleased
as they like everything to do with animals.
This study visit was very special as they were
able to get in contact with nature in many
different ways. They were first divided into
four workshops. In one of the first workshops
it had everything to do with fish, reptiles, and
amphibians. The guide gave them a lot of
information on how they breed, feed, and are
looked after. They were even able to see the
eggs that some of these animals had inside. It
was incredible! The second workshop was all
about the animals at the farm. In this workshop
the students made the food for the animals and
fed them. They fed an emu, goats and a baby
cow. They stroked the guinea pigs and rabbits.
At the end of this workshop they tried some
milk. Delicious!!! In the third workshop the
students were given a flowerpot were they had
to decorate it. They used paint that was made
from plants. They decorated the flower pots
for their mums as it was near Mother´s Day.
It was fun!! The fourth workshop was about
how to make manure in an organic way. They
also learnt about different plants. To finish
this workshop they were given a plant so
that they could plant it in their flowerpot that
they had just decorated. In brief, they had the
opportunity to have a firsthand experiencewith
nature. They learnt a lot!!
