ADECOPA
Science Fair
This year our students, Andrea Vidarte (G5),
Joaquín Hervas (G6), Gabriel Cedrón (G6),
Danilo Hervas (G7), Rodrigo Solari (G7), Na-
talia Echeandía (G10), Sandro Prícipe (G10),
Alejandro Harmsen (G10), Sandra Un Jan
(G11) and Arturo Torres (G11) represented
our school in the ADECOPA Science Fair.
Our students presented the following in-
vestigations:
• To what extent can leaf ageing affect the
proportions of photosynthetic pigments as
seen by paper chromatography analysis?
(Grade 6)
• To what extent can salt (NaCl) change the
melting point of ice and the rate of ice mel-
ting? (Grade 7)
• To what extent can fertilizers impair the
decomposition of dead organic matter in
soil? (Grade 10)
• To what extent can temperature change
the e.m.f. of a Cu//Zn voltaic cell? (Grade 11)
“This presentation in the ADECOPA Scien-
ce Fair was an enlightening experience as
I could see other students’ investigation
from other schools. In this way I could see
how they manage their scientific research
and different perspectives about a relevant
topic.
I feel happy after knowing that this work,
in which I invested during 7 months pro-
duced a satisfactory piece of work. Also I
would like to thank Mr Alex Hernandez,
who was always ready to provide everyday
assistance during my experimental work
and my friend Sandra Un Jan who was my
partner during the presentation. I would
like to encourage other Saintgeorgians to
carry out experiments like this one in the
best interest of our school and our personal
academic formation”.
