Having A Great Experience!
When most of us were growing up, the
solar system seemed reliable and well be-
haved. There were nine planets orbiting
in well-determined orbits like clockwork,
forever. Forever in the past, and forever in
the future. Planetarium displays and the
lovely mechanical devices called orreries
embodied this idea, which went back to
Isaac Newton. In the late 17th century
Newton showed that a planet’s orbit
could be calculated from its gravitational
interaction with the sun.
It is important to encourage children to
this marvellous experience and there is
a nice place in Lima – Ate Vitarte where
people can go, visit and experience about
the solar system. This place is called “Ins-
tituto geofísico del Perú” IGP. Here people
are going to be able to access to two prin-
ciple rooms; “Dome room”and“ 3D room”.
Lima is usually cloudy. Also, when we
have a cloudless night sky , the lights of
the houses, the streets bulbs and headli-
ghts illuminate carts profusely and then
the faint glow of the stars lose more and
more, no longer have the opportunity to
see at a glance a firmament full of stars,
constellations and planets, so What to
do? To reconnect with a Universe blurred
by the city, people go and visit the Plane-
tarium Dome Room.
Many children (and some adults) dream
of becoming astronauts and travel to pla-
nets far from Earth. As a supplement to
what is experienced in the Dome Room of
the Planetarium, Room 3D shows the uni-
verse from the point of view of someone
who overcomes the force of gravity and
escape into space ; 3D , thanks to the use
of special lenses that the Japanese people
have made available to the Planetarium .
In fact to come and visit the Planetarium
could be an unforgettable experience.
