Parque de las Leyendas Grade 1
On May 22nd and 23rd, our first grade children went on a Study Visit to
El Parque de las Leyendas. Grade 1 pupils had the opportunity to learn
about the different types of animals that were not only from our country
but also from different parts of the world.
We started off by visiting the animals that lived in the Highlands. They saw
animals such as the llama, vicuña, guanacos, condors and many others.
All the pupils were amazed as they already knew about these animals but
it was totally different to see them so close up.
We continued with the animals from the jungle. Pupils were really excited
as they had only seen most of them on TV. They saw different types of
monkeys, parrots, pumas, crocodiles, coatis, otters and many more.
However, one of the nicest parts of the zoo was the new home that the
zoo created for the big cats. It is called “The Felinario” and it was done to
look like their habitat. Here the pupils saw the different kinds of cats like
the lions, pumas, tigers and jaguars. In their new habitat, the pupils could
see the cats running, climbing and playing as they had much more space.
Finally, to end this lovely study visit, the pupils went to see the giraffes,
hippos, zebras, buffalos, bears and ostriches.
Grade 1 pupils were not only able to see the animals but also learnt about
their habitats, what they eat, and how they arrived at the zoo. Grade 1
had a very kind guide who explained about the animals and always kept
them engaged.
