Grade Four Panthers
The Owl Who Was afraid of the Dark
Author : Jill Tomlinson
Main Characters: Plop, Plop`s parents, Mrs. Barn Owl, a boy, an old lady, a boy scout, a little girl,
one man with a telescope, and a cat.
Beginning: Plop is a baby born owl. He is fat and fluffy. He is perfect, except for one thing, he is
afraid of dark. One day her mum said that he had to ask people about the dark.
Middle: first, he asked a boy and he said dark was exciting. Then he asked an old lady, she said
dark was kind. Next, he asked a boy scout and this said it was fun. A little girl said it was necessary,
one man with a telescope affirmed it was wonderful. Finally, a cat mentioned that dark was really
beautiful.
End: plop understood that dark was super after all. Now he always go hunting with her father.
Opinion: I liked the story because it is teaches us to trust people and not to be afraid of dark.
Also, because you can see how Plop`s friends help him to discover how super dark was.

There`s a caterpillar on the desk
There`s a butterfly on a leaf
There are insects all around me
Why are there too many of you?
Do you want to live here?
Go and live in the garden,
And that little ant too.
Nobody lives in this school
Specially insects
Go away and never come here
There are insects all around me.
